Broome Rape Suspect Faces New Charges

A Port Crane man who had been sought by authorities earlier this month for allegedly raping a 14 year old girl is now being charged with two additional felony counts.

Broome County Sheriff's officials apprehended 38 year old Michael Degnan on June 20th and charged him with rape.

The authorities say they have now developed evidence linking Degnan to a break-in at a Town of Fenton home and the theft of a truck from a neighboring home June 14th while he was on the run.  The truck was recovered June 17th in the City of Binghamton.

Degnan is to arraigned at the convenience of the Town of Fenton Court on the additional charges of 2nd degree burglary and 3rd degree grand larceny.

Degnan is currently being held in the Broome County Correctional Facility.
