29 new law enforcement officers are ready to join the ranks in the Southern Tier following graduation of the Broome County Sheriff’s Law Enforcement Academy Class of 2013.

The police agency with the largest number of graduates is the City of Binghamton, where sixteen officers have completed training.

Other agencies with graduating officers are: Binghamton University Police, Ithaca College Public Safety, Broome County Sheriff’s Office, Oneonta Police Department, Chemung County Sheriff’s Office, Chenango County Sheriff’s Office, Johnson City Police Department and Norwich Police Department.

The Broome County Sheriff’s Law Enforcement Academy is a para-military academy that runs for 32 weeks.

Graduates have completed 1,256 hours of training. That’s 631 more hours than required by the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services and the Municipal Police Training Council.
