A Whitney Point man accused of making methamphetamine has been arrested on dozens of additional charges as part of an ongoing police investigation.

Authorities say 24-year-old Thomas Cole Jr. now faces 56 additional criminal counts related to acquiring an ingredient typically used to manufacture meth.

According to New York State Police, Cole now has been charged with 14 counts of identity theft and 14 counts of falsifying business records, both felonies. He also has been charged with 14 counts of criminal impersonation, 10 counts of forgery and four counts of scheme to defraud.

Cole was arrested last November during a series of raids by law enforcement agencies working to shut down meth-making operations in the region. He initially was charged with unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine.

Investigators on Tuesday said the new charges stem from the purchase of pseudoephedrine at Broome County pharmacies.

Police say Cole was arraigned on the additional counts in Johnson City and Endicott village courts. He then was returned to Broome County Jail.
