Broome Man Accused of Smashing Mom’s Televison
A northern Broome County man was sent to jail after police say he hurled his mother's television set into a wall.
Authorities say 37-year-old Clifton Payne of Lisle was charged with criminal mischief and disorderly conduct. He also faces a count of resisting arrest.
According to New York State Police, troopers were called to investigate a disturbance in a home on High Street in the town of Lisle.
Investigators say during the dispute, Payne damaged his mother's television when he threw it into a wall, "causing both to break."
Payne then is said to have fought with a trooper and a Broome County sheriff's deputy when he was being arrested.
Payne was arraigned in Lisle town court and sent to Broome County Jail on $250 bail. Police say the court also issued an order of protection against him.
