Bookworms who owe outstanding fees at the Broome County Public Library can reduce their fines for a limited time by helping to feed the hungry in the community.

The Library’s “Food for Fines” program will grant $1 off owed fines for each non-perishable food item brought to the Court Street library to be donated to CHOW.

People who don’t owe fines are also encouraged to donate to the Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse.

The program runs through December 31.
