The Broome County Legislature has made some changes to County Executive Jason Garner’s proposed budget, reducing the tax increase and reducing spending by almost a quarter of a million dollars.  Lawmakers have passed the revised budget and sent it back the County Executive.

The original plan carried a 1.84% tax rate increase. The Legislature trimmed that back to 1.5%.

Spending was trimmed by $245,000.

Garnar, meanwhile, has scheduled a public hearing on the budget for 5 p.m. November 4 in the Legislative Chambers on the 6th floor of the County Office Building.

The proposed changes are available for inspection at the Office of the Clerk of the County Legislature and at www.gobroomecounty.com/legis/budget.
