Broome Legislators Revise County Budget Proposal

The Broome County Legislature has made some changes to County Executive Jason Garner’s proposed budget, reducing the tax increase and reducing spending by almost a quarter of a million dollars.  Lawmakers have passed the revised budget and sent it back the County Executive.

The original plan carried a 1.84% tax rate increase. The Legislature trimmed that back to 1.5%.

Spending was trimmed by $245,000.

Garnar, meanwhile, has scheduled a public hearing on the budget for 5 p.m. November 4 in the Legislative Chambers on the 6^th floor of the County Office Building.

The proposed changes are available for inspection at the Office of the Clerk of the County Legislature and at www.gobroomecounty.com/legis/budget.
