The Broome County legislature's minority leader says he plans to be available to meet with residents on a regular basis.

Jason Garnar, a Binghamton Democrat, expects to have open office hours on a weekly basis.

Speaking on WNBF Radio's Binghamton Now program, Garnar said people will have an opportunity to discuss their concerns with him at the Broome County Office Building in downtown Binghamton.

Garnar said he hoped to "hear from as many people as I can" so they are able to help shape county policies.

Garnar said he plans to hold weekly office hours on Tuesday from noon to 2 p.m. starting January 13.

Three years ago, County Executive Debra Preston, a Republican, announced she would hold weekly "open office hours."
