Broome Land Bank Executive Director Hired

A local chamber of commerce manager has been chosen to oversee the Broome County Land Bank Corporation.

The organization's board of directors selected Stacey Duncan to be the corporation's first executive director.

Duncan has been government relations manager at the Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce since 2009.

Duncan is to start work in the newly-created post on March 17.

New York's Empire State Development Corporation approved the county's land bank application about a year ago.

The organization will work to find new uses for abandoned, distressed and foreclosed properties in the Binghamton area.

The land bank corporation will be able to acquire sites deemed to be important for future economic development projects.
