Roger Neel/WNBF News [April 24, 2014][/caption]Broome County Executive Debra Preston is responding to criticism that continues over her inability to provide information on the number of opioid-related overdoses in the county this year.

Preston issued a statement saying gathering and reporting data is a work in progress and she directed people to the county’s website for information on efforts to fight the escalating drug problem at www.gobroomecounty.com/boac/news.

District Attorney Steven Cornwell last week said he was going to ask the County Coroners to provide him with information on overdose deaths while County Executive candidate Jason Garner crossed party lines to support Cornwell and to criticize Preston and Sheriff David Harder for not being able to provide current information.
