Broome County officials and local veterans are looking at ways the Southern Tier can help area disabled vets.

County Executive Debra Preston says the local chapter of the Disabled American Veterans does what they can to help the veterans in any way.

In 2014, the county bought a van and donated it to the DAV to help transport disabled veterans to and from doctor’s appointments and the DAV is always raising money to help the financial needs of the vets.

The group was recognized by the County Executive and County Clerk Richard Blythe at the County Office Building and residents are being encouraged to donate to the DAV.

Checks can be sent to the Disabled American Veterans at P.O. Box 308, Binghamton, NY 13902.
