New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli’s office is finding fault with Broome County's controls over its computerized data from the beginning of 2012 to August of last year.

An audit by the comptroller says the county has not adopted an information breach notification policy or a disaster recovery plan.

Auditors say the lack of those provisions could result in serious disruption of County operations.

The Count apparently does have a policy regarding u-s-b removable media but are not enforcing the policy and each department has the ability to order supplies on the county’s account without over-site.

Broome County says it is currently looking a software to protect computer data systems and has developed a rough draft breach notification policy.
