Broome County's six carousels are being celebrated on National Carousel Day July 26.

Ceremonies, music and vendors will be at the George W. Johnson Park and the area around Oak Hill Avenue from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to celebrate the 80 years of the Endicott carousel.  The merry-go-round will be rededicated at 10:30.

At C.F.Johnson Park in Johnson city, Johnson City Partners are hosting a festival including art and craft vendors, music and other entertainment along with historic information and a trackless Roaming Railroad.

That celebration is planned for 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Both festivals are free but there is a $3 fee for a ride on the Roaming Railroad in Johnson City.

People riding the carousels are also eligible for prizes.

For several years, there has been a program where merry-go-round riders collect a jewel to place on their carousel button for riding each of the areas six carousels that were donated by the Johnson family.

All rides on the region’s merry-go-rounds are free.
