The 911 emergency phone system in Broome County is operating again.

The system experienced periodic outages starting at around 3 p.m. January 29 and was finally back in operation at around 3 a.m.

The source of the problem is being investigated. Officials with Broome Emergency Services this morning said it’s suspected there was some sort of ‘network problem.’

For part of the afternoon and overnight, residents had to call the main dispatch number, (607) 778-1911, in order to access emergency personnel.  That number can still be used in non-emergency situations.
