Broome County Woman Dies in I-88 Crash
A 31-year-old Nineveh woman died after the minivan she was driving was struck by a tractor-trailer in Chenango County.
Authorities say Noel Pike lost control of a 2005 Suzuki XL-7 as the vehicle entered Interstate 88 in the town of Afton.
A 2005 Freightliner slammed into the side of the minivan at about 1:40 Monday afternoon.
State police say Pike was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators say the truck driver, 52-year-old Gary Donovan of Johnson City, was reported in critical condition at Wilson Medical Center.
Two passengers in the minivan, 29-year-old Rayne Pike of Nineveh and a four-year-old child, were treated at Wilson for what troopers described as "non-life threatening" injuries.
