Bob Joseph/WNBF News [file][/caption]Broome County is looking for proposals from professionals to offer drug treatment services at the now-closed Broome Developmental Center.

County officials announced New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and state agencies, like the Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services, are on-board with the plans to provide up to 100 inpatient and residential treatment beds at the state-owned facility in the Town of Dickinson. The state is to provide up to $30,000 per bed.

Broome County officials say the Request for Proposals outlines the scope of services that would be provided including detoxification and support around-the clock.

Applications for the RFP are being taken through August 23rd.  All applicants must be certified by OASAS.

County Executive Jason Garnar says there are already three agencies expressing interest in the program.

The treatment facility could open at the beginning of next year.

The Broome Developmental Center provided services to people with developmental disabilities until it was closed by the state over a year ago and there has been lively debate over how to use the sprawling facility in the Town of Dickinson.
