Dozens of items will be available for sale at the Broome County surplus property auction this weekend.

The sale will be held at the county highway department facility on Thomas Street in the town of Chenango. The auction is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. Saturday. Vehicles and equipment to be sold will be available for inspection beginning at 8 a.m.

County officials say the items are from Broome and Tioga counties, along with local governments and school districts within the counties.

They say sales from last year's surplus auction brought in more than $100,000.

Among the items available are a used Zamboni ice resurfacing machine, 20,000 new light bulbs and five canoes.

The auction will be conducted by Mel Manasse and Son. A sample listing of items to be sold is available at the company's website.
