The annual Broome County Stop DWI Holiday Classic high school basketball tournament takes place in Binghamton December 27 through the 39th and has some new features this year.

Speaking on the local public affairs program December 21, Broome County Stop DWI director, Chris Marion says Mirabito Fuel Group has partnered with the tournament, allowing organizers to add programs aside from the basketball games for players and others.

Marion says local police officers will address young people along with victims of drunk, distracted and dangerous driving to impress the importance of wise choices while driving.

The partnership between Mirabito and Broome County Stop DWI also allows tickets to be available at a lower cost.

The tournament activities at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena start with the Officer Aldo Rossi Memorial Police Basketball Game.

Officer Rossi was a Port Dickinson Policeman who was killed by a drunk driver.

High school boys' basketball teams from around New York State and the East Coast compete in the week-long tournament that will start on the 27th featuring many young players who have already signed with noted basketball programs at colleges and universities.

Tickets are available at the Arena box office, Ticketmaster or through the Stop DWI website www.bcstopdwi.com /bcstopdwi/classic.
