Broome County Murder Trial is Underway

Jury selection continues for a Broome County man accused of acting with another suspect in a robbery on Stone Street, Binghamton in 2013 that left a man dead.

37 year old Calvin Bell is charged with felony murder and robbery in the June 15, 2013 death of 44 year old Bretnie Owens at his apartment.

The trial for 41 year old Nigel Smith is scheduled for June 29.

Prosecutors say Bell and Smith tried to forcibly take possessions from Owens while armed with what looked like a pistol.

Both Smith and Bell have entered not guilty pleas.
