Broome County's health rankings are improving.
A new report finds rates of premature deaths at the lowest level in the county in 20 years.Last year, Broome placed 56th out of the 62 counties in New York. This year, Broome was ranked 48th.

'Rankings' is published online by the Robert Wood Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute at www.countyhealthrankings.org.

The rankings track such things as low birth weight, teen birth rates, uninsured people, preventable hospital stays, diabetic screenings, mammography rates, education and violent crime.
