Investigators say Kyle Shaffer of Endicott was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to New York State Police, the three-vehicle crash occurred around 4:40 a.m. Thursday.

Police say a tractor-trailer rear-ended the car Shaffer was operating in the northbound driving lane of the highway.

The impact caused the car to move forward and strike the rear of a van. The car then went off the east shoulder of the roadway.

Troopers say the truck was driven by 37-year-old Clever Agudo of Flushing, Queens. The van was driven by Theresa Mandigo of Fort Edward.
