A man who has been a driving force in the local economic development scene is retiring.

Executive Director of The Agency, formerly the Broome County Economic Development Agency, Kevin McLaughlin has announced he will retire effective June first.

Board of Directors chairman, John Bernardo says McLaughlin has worked for over 40 years on numerous projects including the development of Binghamton’s baseball stadium and the Sheraton Hotel, now the Doubletree, on Water Street in Binghamton.

McLaughlin had previously been the Regional Director for Empire State Development and had worked on development strategic plans for the region.

The Agency’s Personnel Committee is conducting a search for a new Executive Director.
