Motorists are urged to exercise extreme caution if their travels will take them through the Village of Deposit and Town of Sanford in the near future due to flash flood damage.

Broome County Executive Jason Garnar issued a State of Emergency for the area at 6 p.m. August 7 to remain in effect until futher notice.

Village of Deposit Mayor Bryan Moore also issued a State of Emergency.

Residents are urged to use caution traveling through the area and to strictly heed signs indicating road damage due to flash flooding from afternoon storms August 7.

In Pennsylvania, New Albany Borough was again socked by flash flooding.  That community was one of several small towns sustaining severe damage from rushing water following several fast-moving storms that dumped inches of rain on the region.

The New Albany Free Library reported a loss of hundreds of books over the weekend as water rushed into the building.  Officials were still assessing the extent of that damage before the latest storm dumped 2-3 inches of rain in the southeastern corner of Bradford County.
