Most veterans know that they are entitled to benefits including basic health care and education assistance which is offered through the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, but many don’t know that there are several other benefits available to veterans and their families such as caregiver support, death benefits, mortgage help and more.

If you’re a veteran and don’t know all of the benefits you’re eligible for, or do know, but don’t know where to turn for help obtaining those benefits, the Broome County Bar Association wants to help. Maybe you’re a veteran who needs help with estate planning or maybe you’ve got questions about what benefits New York State offers for your veteran-owned business. Maybe you have questions about grandparent's rights or about debt collection. The Broome County Bar Association wants to help.

On Saturday, November 16, 2019, The Broome County Bar Association will be offering a free veterans legal clinic from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Broome County Public Library, 185 Court Street in Binghamton.

At the veterans legal clinic, you’ll have the opportunity to take advantage of a 30-minute private consultation with an attorney, listen to speakers cover subjects such as discharge upgrades, service-connected disability application/appeal process and more. There will also be resource tables at your disposal.

If you would like to have a free consultation with an attorney, you must register to do so no later than Thursday, November 8, 2019, by calling 607-584-5668 and leave a message. Someone will return your call to schedule you with the proper attorney.
