As Broome County Sheriff candidate Jason Ellis was learning his petition signatures would not be enough to get him on the ballot for a Republican Primary with incumbent Sheriff David Harder, other candidates were either waiting for challenge results of their own or announcing plans to run.

In the Town of Union, Dennis Ede's bid for Town Supervisor is over as signatures for his run are ruled invalid.  Ede says miscommunication about the rules for getting and filing signatures sunk his chances at the Republican Party nomination.

The Broome County Board of Elections is also looking at fellow Republican Kenneth DelBianco's petition signatures.

Meanwhile, Republican Robert Seidel of Binghamton has announced he will challenge Democratic Legislator Mark Whalen for the 15th District and Democrat Barbara Mullen of Vestal is challenging Republican Daniel Reynolds, the Chairman of the Broome County Legislature, for the 5th District.
