Work on the path from the Binghamton main metro area to the top of Mount Ettrick, home of the Greater Binghamton Airport, is getting a boost with the announcement of $9 million for the Airport Corridor project.

Water and sewer services are to be installed to clear the way for the development of a future corporate park near the airport.

While the project had been talked about for years, some early stages of the construction have now actually begun.  Officials say contractor G. DeVincentis and Son Construction began the work June 1st.

It’s hoped the majority of the construction could be done by next spring.

The project is being funded through New York State and federal grants.
