A Bronx man is being charged with felony criminal possession of a controlled substance following an investigation into the sale of methamphetamine in Broome County.

32 year old Forest Byrd was arrested in the Friendly’s Restaurant parking lot on Harry L. Drive in Johnson City January 2.

The Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force says Byrd was found in possession of about three ounces of meth and a search of a hotel room where he had been staying turned up packaging material and paraphernalia common to the sale of drugs.  In addition, authorities found 63 grams of marijuana.

Police say Byrd is also charged with misdemeanor criminal possession of marijuana and criminally using drug paraphernalia.

He was sent to the Broome County Jail to wait for his next date in court.
