An exit off Route 17 in Tioga County will be closed starting next week as a bridge replacement project gets underway.

According to the New York State Department of Transportation, Exit 64 at Owego will be out of service for westbound traffic beginning Monday.

The exit will be shut down while the Lackawanna Avenue bridge is replaced.

Drivers on the Southern Tier Expressway - Route 17 - can expect lane closures in both directions near Exit 64.

A detour will be set up to guide motorists around the closed exit. That detour will use Route 17 and Route 434.

Only local traffic will be permitted to use the exit.

The project is expected to take about two weeks to complete.
