After several days of silence amid speculation about her future, Broome County Executive Debra Preston is expected to talk with reporters.

Preston's office has announced she intends to meet with members of the news media at her downtown Binghamton office at 4 p.m. today

The session comes four days after Broome County District Attorney Stephen Cornwell issued a statement that appeared to allude to possible wrongdoing by Preston.

Cornwell's statement said he had "recused himself from any case involving Debra A. Preston."

Preston has been unavailable to respond to the statement and her office also has had no official response to any legal issues she may be facing.

Preston, a Republican, is running for reelection. She is being challenged by Democrat Jason Garnar.

In recent days, Binghamton television stations have reported Preston was not running any additional campaign commercials.
