NBC to broadcast LIVE from Fly Creek Cider Mill & Orchard Thursday and Friday Afternoons
Fly Creek, NY – NBC news will broadcast New York State Presidential Primary coverage from the Fly Creek Cider Mill & Orchard on Thursday and Friday afternoons. This weekend Producers toured the historic Mill near Cooperstown in Otsego County and found it quite suitable to host the crew of MSNBC.
Traditionally small diners and cafes have been selected in earlier primary States however NBC has chosen small agribusinesses like the Mill to showcase the rural natural abundance of Upstate, NY. Monday through Wednesday the show will be broadcast from Schoharie Valley Farms/ The Carrot Barn in neighboring Schoharie County.
“This year New York’s primary is in play for both Democrats and Republicans and this national exposure will help show Americans that Upstate New York holds a wealth of agricultural and scenic assets that visitors are welcome to explore,” says Bill Michaels, co-owner of the Mill. “We are honored being selected as a broadcast location and I hope the production crew enjoy the experience here.”
The Fly Creek Cider Mill recently opened for the season showcasing a winter-long renovation. During renovation the exterior skin of the historic Mill was removed opening up a larger viewing area of the cider-making process which uses equipment dating back to 1889. Visitors now have more open space to view the historic equipment while discovering the Mill’s wide array of specialty foods and gifts. Currently the Mill has McIntosh, Empire, Jonagold and Crispin apples in addition to sweet and hard ciders plus apple wines - all made from apples grown in New York State. Now in their 17th year of ownership, Brenda and Bill Michaels have developed the Mill into a food-lovers’ destination through a diverse array products and programming targeted to create a flavorful visitor experience.
The public is invited to tour the Mill and experience the production of a live, nation-wide broadcast anchored by Kate Snow and Craig Melvin between 1:00 and 5:00 pm both Thursday and Friday, April 14 and 15. The broadcasts may ask visitors which candidates they support during their tour of the Mill.
The Fly Creek Cider Mill is centrally located in Upstate New York just three miles from the Village of Cooperstown and 24 miles south of Herkimer. There is no charge for a tour and parking is free. For more information visit their website at www.flycreekcidermill.com.
