A convicted Pennsylvania sex offender who was accused, along with his wife of locking his disabled daughter in a cage and a closet will serve up to 23 months in the Bradford County Jail.

56 year old Richard Frankenfield of Albany Township pleaded guilty to recklessly endangering another person.

In addition to jail time, Frankenfield has been ordered to pay a fine.

Under his plea deal, two felony counts were dropped.

50 year old Mary Beth Frankenfield was released after serving five months in jail and paying a $2,000 fine for pleading guilty to endangering the welfare of a child.

Investigators say the 12 year old child, suffering from cerebral palsy, was locked up for large portions of the day in a makeshift cage and spent nights in a four foot wide closet equipped with a crib mattress that the couple referred to as their daughter’s room.  The closet was locked from the outside.

The parents contend they locked the child up to keep her from getting into things and bothering the other children.

Prior to sentencing, Richard Frankenfield still contended the couple did nothing wrong.

The girl has been removed from the home.

The sentence for the father was longer than what was agreed upon based on that interview in the pre-sentence report and Fankenfield has 10 days if he wants to withdraw his appeal and go to trial.
