Broome-Tioga BOCES is clear to sell an old Endicott school property for $50,000.

Voting in the referendum was held November 19 at the BOCES headquarters at 435 Glenwood Road in the town of Dickinson.

The building at 23 Jackson Avenue in Endicott had been utilized by BOCES as its Endicott Learning Center until last year.

The structure originally housed the Henry B. Endicott School for the Union-Endicott School District.

Although the building no longer is being used, utilities remain on. The facility is in disrepair. One of the windows on the northern end of the structure appears to have been shattered by a bullet.

Voters approved selling the old school and its parking area to Marchuska Development LLC in an unofficial vote of 393-137, including 401 absentee ballots.

The developer has indicated the building initially may be used for storage, although it's possible the property might be considered for a future senior housing project.

The BOCES board will meet at 6 p.m. today and is expected to certify the vote.
