For Southern Tier residents who spent time outdoors this past weekend it was a cold reality check of what's ahead.  Winds gusting over 30 miles an hour brought snow showers to the area yesterday.  Temperatures ranged from the 30's to low 50's but wind chills made it often seem much chillier.

Cold temperatures held down crowds at some area football games on Saturday and Saturday night.  Rail Trail walkers and runners were for the most part bundled up to try and curb the harsh winds.  Those  doing yard work and leaf raking were forced to bag leaves quickly to keep from having to rake them again as the gusty winds caused piles to blow apart quickly.

Temperatures are forecast to drop into the mid-20's over night as skies clear.  The National Weather Service says a mixture of rain and snow showers may be part of the Wednesday morning forecast.
