Binghamton Mayor Richard David is one of eight mayors invited a two-day conference in Syracuse dealing with how design can improve cities.

The 2014 East Regional Session of the Mayor’s Institute on City Design was being held October 23-24 at the Syracuse University School of Architecture.

Topics being discussed at the conference include downtown redevelopment, transportation planning, sustainability and infrastructure.

Mayor David presented to the group the case study for redeveloping the Collier Street parking garage into a mixed used facility including commercial and residential space in addition to parking.

The Mayor expected the experts at the conference will be able to offer feedback and their suggestions on the idea.
