A Southside, Binghamton plant that has turned out dairy products for decades will again be churning out milk and other products, this time to a specialized market.

The Crowley plant on Conklin Avenue was purchased earlier this year by Mountain Fresh Dairy.

The company is getting a $200,00 loan from the Broome County Industrial Development Agency to assist in the purchase of equipment necessary to produce  kosher Chalav Yisroel milk and other dairy products.

The company says the plant is expected to add 87 jobs to the local economy over the next three years and to branch out into other products like kosher cheeses and Greek yogurt.

Crowley has been a fixture in the Southern Tier for decades and was purchased by H.P. Hood in 2004.

The Southside plant closed in March of 2012 while Hood continues to produce product under the Crowley name.
