More than two months after Punxsutawney Phil erroneously predicted an early spring, people across the Twin Tiers are enjoying some mild temperatures as the week wraps up.

Temperatures rose into the 50s this afternoon and warmer days are predicted by local forecasters.

A few rapidly-melting clumps of snow were spotted on the top level of the Collier Street parking garage across from the downtown Governmental Plaza.

Many downtown workers spent part of their lunch breaks walking along Court Street and nearby streets.

The National Weather Service at Binghamton is calling for mostly sunny conditions Friday and Saturday. Friday's high is expected to be around 51 and Saturday's high could reach 54.

The forecast suggests even warmer weather will be with us next week with high temperatures Sunday through Wednesday approaching 60.

And Accuweather, the private forecasting service, is even more optimistic... Its forecasters are predicting Binghamton's high temperature next Wednesday will hit 75.

The following day might be cooler with some rain, according to Accuweather. The home opener for the Binghamton Mets is scheduled for that night.
