Binghamton Police say there is another spike in vehicle break-ins in the city.

Authorities are taking steps to educate motorists about the problem, trying doors of cars parked in the city to see if they are locked and putting flyers on vehicles reminding drivers to make sure they lock their cars and never leave anything of value in sight, even if the vehicle is locked.

Police say vehicle break-ins periodically spike in activity and residents should always make sure they secure their property.  Residents are also reminded they should also always make sure their homes are locked, even during the day.
