The City of Binghamton is advising residents the Water Department will conduct a City wide hydrant flushing and testing April 24-May 26, Monday-Friday 7 a.m.- 11 p.m.

Officials say water discoloration may be noticed at some times as well as low pressure.  Still, the Water Department assures residents the water will remain safe for use.

The City flushes and tests the hydrants every spring and fall to make sure the lines are in good order for fire protection and other services.

While the water is still safe for use, residents should check their cold water supply before using to see if there is a need to clear any discoloration.  Customers may have to run the cold water only to clear the service.

Questions can be directed to the City of Binghamton's Water Department at (607) 772-7219.
