The city of Binghamton is selling the recyclable materials it collects from residents and businesses.

City officials say about 4,000 tons of recyclables are picked up over the course of the year.

The stuff now will be sold to Broome Recycling for $31.50 a ton.

Mayor Matthew Ryan says the deal to sell recyclable material fulfills a pledge made during this year's State of the City address.

Binghamton residents can check this guide to see what may be recycled and what must be tossed out as trash.
