Federal Highway Safety Improvement Program money is being allocated to lower the roadway under two railroad bridges at Front and Clinton Streets in the City of Binghamton where countless trucks have become stuck over the years.$3 million is allocated for the road-lowering project as well as other traffic improvements in the area.

Construction could get underway next year provided the project to solve the chronic stuck truck problem gets final approval from state and federal officials.

The work had at first been included as part of  the front street gateway improvement project, which was later scaled back and divided into separate projects.
