Benjamin Franklin Elementary School on Binghamton's South Side is to resume operations following a closure caused when water leaked into the school during a rain storm.

The water seeped into classrooms and hallways.

City school district officials had expected the school on Conklin Avenue would be ready to reopen on Thursday, February 18. Efforts to heat and dry the building took longer than expected but the work now has been completed.

A telephone message at the school indicated classes will be in session on Friday.

The message said: "We hope to see all children in school as usual, on time and ready to go."

School district representatives could not be reached Thursday afternoon to discuss the extent of the damage caused by this week's rain.
