The downtown Binghamton roundabout was shut down Monday morning for final paving operations.

The Court Street intersection at Chenango and Exchange streets near the Broome County courthouse will be out of service as crews put some of the finishing touches on the roundabout.

The new traffic pattern utilizing the roundabout opened for motorists just over three weeks ago.

A few trucks have encountered difficulty navigating the circle, occasionally causing brief traffic tie-ups on Court Street.

Binghamton Mayor Matthew Ryan has acknowledged a few drivers have had problems adjusting to the roundabout. He's suggested a little education might solve the issues.

The roundabout was constructed as part of the Court Street Gateway project, which should be completed in November.
