Less than two years after the downtown Binghamton roundabout opened to traffic, utility crews are busy replacing natural gas lines.

The traffic circle at the Court Street intersection with Chenango and Exchange streets was partially closed today as workers tore up concrete to reach gas lines.

Some of the lines are being replaced following a recent nearby gas leak.

Traffic patterns near the busy intersection were changed because of a detour while the lines were being replaced.

Additional work on the site in the area of the roundabout is expected to be done Friday.
