A donation from Binghamton Rotary Charities is allowing dozens of children in the Philippines to get food.

Binghamton Rotary Charities funded the entire $2,000 for a six month-long temporary feeding program to assist families impacted by a large fire.

Official say man families in Caloocan City were displaced by the blaze and children were not getting enough to eat.

At the start of the program, organizers say 60 children were in danger, 53 underweight and seven severely underweight.  The most recent numbers show 56 of the children are now in the normal weight range, only four underweight and none listed as severely underweight.

At one central location, children were afforded high-nutrient meals twice a day supervised by nutritionists who also offered classes to the children’s parents.

The families served are now able to return to a normal life and have regular access to meals.
