If you have already visited one of the establishments participating in Binghamton Restaurant Week you know what I am going to say.  "What a great idea !"  Binghamton Restaurant Week offers patrons a variety of lunch and dinner specials at participating restaurants now through September 26th.  Lunches are offered for $10 dollars or less per person and dinners for $20 or less per person.

My wife Beth and I decided to visit one of the area's newest restaurants, the Galaxy Brewing Company at 41 Court Street in Binghamton.  I had been there for the official opening ceremony but had not had the chance to be there for a meal.  As the name indicates they offer a nice selection of there own brewed beers plus some delicious dining options.

Their beer list offers one dozen choices ranging from their lightest beer, KopernikKolsch to Mint Chocolate Stout.  My wife enjoyed a glass of White Dwarf Wit, a Belgian style wheat beer served with a slice of orange.  I tried their Octoberfest...a traditional German style amber lager.  Very, very good !

For dinner we started off with the first course.  I had the Rocket Salad and she ordered Fried Green Beans.  Both were excellent.  And, yes, I did take some of hers, too !
The Soup Du Jour was Cheddar Beer Soup.  Delightful.  If it is offered when you visit...try it ! The cheddar flavor is just right !

For our main course Beth had the Mint Chocolate Stout Braised Lamb. This entrée comes with a vegetable and potato mash.   I enjoyed the Quinoa Barley Chili.  This features sweet corn, red beans, black beans, tomatoes, roasted peppers and mild farm cheese. Quite a treat with just the right touch of blended flavors.  They also let us try their Chicken Sausage Jambalaya.  It is spicy, tasty and delicious. If you are a big eater there is plenty for you in any of these dishes.  If you aren't a big eater then you will have lots to take home, too.

For dessert we both decided on the Chocolate Zucchini Cake with Espresso Frosting and Crushed hazel Nuts.  That's a home run !  Wait til you taste the frosting !  Even if you are watching your waistline don't turn down a chance to enjoy this.  As you can see from our photo...it looks good and tastes great !!!

We left both agreeing on two things.  We can't wait to go back and what a wonderful boost for the downtown.  Offering lunch, dinner and their own brewed beers the Galaxy Brewing Company is a place you should try.  And...a tip of the hat to Andrew...our server who explained all the menu items to us and his recommendations were right on the mark.  It attracts a variety of ages. Visit during Restaurant Week and taste for yourself !
