Today through Thursday customers looking for a nice dining experience can enjoy lunch and dinner specials  at over two dozen Binghamton restaurants.  Participating restaurants offer three course lunches for $10 or less and  three course dinners for $25 or less.  A portion of the proceeds go to benefit CHOW.

My wife, Beth and I were invited by some good friends to visit Little Venice Restaurant at 111 Chenango Street in Binghamton to enjoy dinner last night and take part in the  Binghamton Restaurant Week celebration.  We were advised to make reservations...expect a crowd.  Not getting the chance to dine out often on Sunday evenings I didn't think there would be  many out enjoying a Sunday evening dinner.  WRONG !  The restaurant was packed !  All ages...college students, retirees, young families with grand parents were taking part in a night out.  The crowd didn't take away from the service or the meal.

Beth started things off with Caprese,  featuring tomato, fresh mozzarella and fresh basil and sprinkled in olive oil.  I enjoyed a cup of Sunday's soup of the day, chicken bowtie.  For our entrees, Beth ordered shrimp scampi which was delicious (I tried some, too) .  I love Little Venice's sauce so I wanted to sample three different kinds of pasta with their pasta sampler.  My choices were  fettucine alfredo, lasagna and manicotti.  The servings were large, both the red and white sauce were  outstanding and the pasta was delicious.  We topped things off with a couple of fresh, homemade chocolate chip cookies to finish off the meal.

Our visit to Little Venice made for a perfectly enjoyable evening.  It is obvious that the organizers of Binghamton Restaurant Week have a good thing going...  affordable prices and many specials at a host of Binghamton establishments.  This serves as an excellent way to showcase what Binghamton offers.  Binghamton Restauarant Week  continues through this Thursday, September 27.
