A building that once was home to a Sheraton Inn on Binghamton's West Side has been acquired by the Broome County Land Bank Corporation.

The property at 50 Front Street has been vacant for about three years. The county took possession of the site through a tax foreclosure process.

This is the first site acquired by the recently-formed Land Bank, which will be working to redevelop abandoned properties in the county.

The building most recently housed Renaissance Plaza, which served as a senior living facility and a residence for others with special needs.

A portion of the building once was occupied by WBNG-TV before the station moved its operations to Johnson City.
