Authorities say Tuesday afternoon's blaze in the First Ward was intentionally set.

Lieutenant Thomas Harding said the fire originated in a pile of debris behind 34 Mygatt Street. The blaze ignited a porch and spread to the asphalt siding on the house. Vinyl siding on a vacant house next door also burned.

Harding said fire investigators had ruled out all possible accidental and natural causes for the blaze.

The porch that burned had previously been damaged by flooding and was being removed.

No injuries were reported as a result of the blaze.

Binghamton police detectives are interviewing people in the neighborhood in an effort to find those responsible for the fire.
