Investigators say Echevarria died shortly after he arrived at a hospital.

The dispute outside the North Side apartment complex was reporting to police at 2:30 a.m. Sunday.

Detectives say they are trying to locate 25-year-old Juan Lopez. He also is known as Juan Lopez-Laboy.

Police say Lopez is a "person of interest." Investigators want to interview him in connection with the stabbing incident.

Detectives say Lopez is 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighs about 120 pounds. Detectives say he had been living in Binghamton.

Lopez has ties to the New York City and Monroe County areas. Police say he is originally from Puerto Rico.

People are advised not to approach Lopez if they see him. Instead, they are urged to contact the nearest police department.

Those with information about the stabbing may contact the Binghamton Police detective bureau at 607.772.7080.

The weekend killing wasn't the first homicide at the Town and Country property. A 19-year-old man died after he was shot during a dispute at a Fourth of July party in 2014 at the complex.
