Binghamton detectives are trying to determine who was responsible for the latest arson fire at a vacant commercial building on Brown Street.

City fire investigators concluded Monday's fire at the former All Around Building Supplies store was not accidental.

Fire marshal Daniel Eggleston said the blaze was incendiary in nature. He said no evidence of an accelerant was found in the rubble of the building.

The blaze originated in a rear section of the structure near railroad tracks just west of Glenwood Avenue.

Eggleston said the latest fire started in an area separate from the spot where a March blaze began. That fire began inside a garage area.

Police and fire investigators have said there were reports that people frequently entered the empty building.

Investigators previously had noted evidence of drug use, including the presence of hypodermic needles, on the property.

City officials have indicated the remaining portion of the fire-damaged structure will have to be demolished. There's been no word as to when that work might get underway.
