Police say a 17-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with an early-morning convenience store robbery.

Authorities say the heist happened at the Hess Express store on Glenwood Avenue around 1:30 a.m. today.

The robber was said to have been armed with a gun. He stole money from the cash register and took property belonging to a store employee.

Detectives say 17-year-old Joshua Smith, who lives on Binghamton's North Side, was taken into custody a short time after the robbery.
